. . . from last year . . .
Franny was commenting on Amy Winehouse's multiple wins - no, on her PERFORMANCE:

Okay, So it was my Birthday, and I didn't get to see the Grammy's live. I went on their site and then youtube and watched Amy's performance to see what a hot mess looks like. I couldn't help drawing the comparison to Edith Piaf or even Billie Holiday. She was jumped up on something but reaching from a place I rarely go. I enjoyed her, but it made me a little nervous. Kind of the way I used to get when I watched Jimi Hendrix. All raw ...over sensitive like after the fact.

Thanks, Blogaroos!
So good to have friends gathered around - and grabbing the remote - for the show.
See you soon - and next year.

That Bo D thing
They really didn't give that jam enough time to develop. Very interesting bunch of players - had I been one of them I'd be supremely frustrated.
fran's geetar students will do their part in June
her guitar recital will benefit

The Bo Diddley thing
This is one of the things that I usually wait for - players playing for each other.
Check out the dead folks . . .
. . . getting the bum's rush. Late - short on time they're doubling up on the screen time for these folks.
this multitasking is exhausting.
O bama A bama bama bama o bama a bama o BaAAAma.
hey B.O. B. O. won't you make my paycheck grow

This is my first T.I. exposure.
What a change-up - Justin Timberlake lends gravitas/cred to new performers. The cellos help, too.
NOW This Is Real Monkey Business!
I should've joined you all up years ago. Much more fun - and less work for Mother, too.
I think
I believe I would sound pretty good too if I had 1700 backup drums. And tubas. God, you have got to have the tubas.
Is the Dewar's kicking in?
. . . or am I digging Radiohead? I think I'm digging Radiohead.
It is VERY HARD to do anything that is almost like different anymore.

Adele
She's got a powerhouse of a voice, eh?
The Sugerbowls (fine enough) didn't add to her perf. IMO

Okay - Paul is in his 60's
None of us are allowed to complain about being old now.
Just remembered that when I type - I miss the performances. And the Grammys is nothing without the performances.

Actors lend Glam
Maybe what they're doing at SXSW is taking the place of what the Grammys used to do. I pledge that I'll get down there someday.
She intros Paul. Dave Grohl on drums?

Uh, Everybody's TV didn't go B&W did it?
Ours does this every once in a while. Very 1950's.
M.I.A+ and Kanye and ? and ?
I'm sooooo clueless.

Kenny Chesney?
Poet? Pirate? Hat Guy? Glenn mentions that clueless feeling - I've got plenty of that. Not too aware of this guy - familiar name, competent songmeistering . . . I dunno.
Adele
I saw a Sixty Minutes thing about her - she's very sweet and seems uneffected. And Un-Affected.
The FIX
. . . was to send invites to you all to be Team members in this thing so that the Posts can fly much more crazily fast.
PS - check Ellen's comment " . . . I kissed a Dog, and I liked it"

This is kind of like playing tennis . . .
. . . and I SUCK at tennis. Glad to have you madcaps whacking away here!
I think I can fix this.
I'll add anyone who wants to help me tear this up - I think I can add partners/team members on the log-in page. I'll check on that now while Jennifer Hudson is singing.
Comments
Some folks got pissed/frustrated last year when trying to post comments - if you aren't a Gmail/Blogger person, choose
0 NAME/URL and the URL thing is optional. Ka-Peesh? Cool.

Okay - Kid Rock . . .
. . . is making the Staples Center feel a teeny bit like a bar. That's cool - but I can't remember any of his music.
Kid Rock
Hmmmm . . . kind of cool that there was a mugshot of him up on the big screen behind the stage.
Harmony
Al dropped down to a low harmony part - that's why he's Al Green and I'm a geek sitting here watching him.
Okay
I guess I also like it when people who win get all excited, too, and thank everyone and Paul McCartney.
If I don't Post . . .
. . . it might be that the performance is too riveting. Or totally un-postworthy.
Where'd Carrie Underwood come from?

The MTV Music News blog person . . .
. .. was wondering how they'd get all the performances in. CP just did a .25 version of their hit. That's how.
Cold2
Short conversation with Glenn McBrearty yesterday about how these guys are filling in behind the envelope pushing (making?) U2.
They're okay, I just don't get all that excited about this . . .

Al is awake now.
Justin isn't all that bad - I think Al noticed. Short concise solo from Keith Urban, too.
The Nominees
I'm so underwhelmed at the list of nominees - I must be getting old. If they weren't bringing back folks like Al Green (who seems a little underwhelmed hisself right now) I might switch channels. Ooooh, HERESY!
You'll see me say . . .
. . . from time to time "Fabi says . . . " and I'm quoting my fabulous® Wife - who is filled with wisdom.
Just now she said "A standing O for Whitney???"

My Bad
Here's what I said about Coldplay yesterday on Six Degrees -
"Coldplay – I checked them out on Itunes – there’s a picture of the band, the guy who’s going out with Gwyneth Paltrow – and the other three guys.".
He's actually married to Gwyneth Paltrow.

Goooood Morning, music fans!
Arf! The 51st Grammys - I didn't get my song and video done, so I don't have tickets. :0(
Nobody's fault but mine - I scribbled out some script, I pasted together about thirty seconds of jam - but I never storyboarded the video and I never . . . . well, I never.
So here we are again - a bunch of new-to-me names among the nominees. I haven't checked the list of performers yet - I'm hoping that there's someone like Brad Paisley and his Telecaster up there this evening. He makes it look effortless.
